Story
After completing the Great North Run in 2014 and receiving generous donations from all my loved ones. Together we managed to raise over £1000 for kidney research. This was something close to my heart because it impacted my family directly on a daily basis due to having a renal patient within our family.
The experience made me even more determined to challenge myself further and raise money for a different cause, but I really didn't know what I wanted to do or what charity to raise money for.
Just before Christmas 2016, my mum and I attended a 'comedy event' in newcastle which was raising money for a charity called 'Human Appeal'. To begin with I really wasn't fussed, nor was I looking forward to attending the event. However, after hearing about what the charity does and the difference it has made to people's lives, it left a great big lump in my throat and an emptiness in my heart. I was reminded of how fortunate I was and how much desperation surrounds us.
This is when I raised my hands to a pledge asking to raise £1000 for Human Appeal.
So what is Human Appeal and what do they do?
"For a quarter of a century, we’ve been delivering aid and development programs that transform lives in the world’s poorest nations. We’ve helped others to smile when there’s little to smile about. That’s what makes us human. And it really is something to celebrate."
How me and Ahmed endeavour to raise money for the charity:
Between May- August 2017, we aim to climb the three highest peaks in the U.K. We are aiming to climb Snowdonia, Wales in May, Scafell Pike, England in July and Ben Nevis, Scotland in August.
We will also be doing the zip wiring in Wales after climbing Snowdonoa. The zip wire is the longest and fastest zip wire in Europe.
We will be updating you on our journey as we prepare and plan towards our goal.
We urge you to donate, regardless of the amount because "every little helps"!
