Story

100km in 1 month challenge!

What we are raising money for

Samaritans is a mental health charity that offers support 24/7, 365 days a year.  We have both seen first hand the help this amazing charity gives to those in need.

Why we are supporting this charity

The stigma associated with mental health continues to be a battle the world faces. Those suffering often cannot or do not have the resources to seek help. Just like physical health, people suffer from a host of illnesses and challenges. However, a huge difference with mental health, is it can be very difficult to diagnose, often people do not have the appropriate language to express how or what they are feeling, sometimes having to prove or justify they are ill, being called derogatory terms, and the list goes on...

Samaritans is often signposted by medical professions, media outlets as they offer support what ever time of day or night throughout the year. Treatments for a number of mental health conditions often have long wait times and Samaritans are often called upon. Additionally, some people to not want to 'burden' their loved ones or feel comfortable to express how they are feeling. Samaritans offers a non-judgmental space for volunteers to give emotional support.

How you can support our challenge

During COVID-19, Samaritans, like many charities do not have the same level of funding. This is why we both feel it is really important to not only raise awareness about mental health, but also to help in any way we can. Exercise can often help with our own mental health and well-being - this is why we have chosen to run to raise money. We will be running 100km within one month between us. We understand COVID-19 has created many challenges for so many, so if you are able to donate then please do. If you cannot donate, please share our 'Just Giving' page with family/friends/colleagues and on social media, that is free!

Thank you all for reading this far! We will post our progress throughout and share resources/tips on our social media platforms.

Please free to contact us if you would like any more information.
