Thank
you for visiting my just giving page.
I
am doing a sky dive to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity in memory of my
mum Theresa Donovan.
For
all those that knew my mum know she was a truly amazing lady
My
mum was told she had a brain tumour in mid October when my step dad rush my mum
to hospital as she was acting unusual, mum underwent many tests including CT
scans, MRI scans, following a short stay
in EAU in Colchester Hospital, mum was taken Queens Hospital in Romford, where
she had brain surgery to try and remove the mass, this was a very long
operation, after the operation mum spent the night in intensive care and was
allowed to come home the next day. At this point we were all so relieved to
have mum home with us, although it was very hard for the family as mum required
24 hour care.
One
week later we went back to Queens Hospital to meet with the consultant who gave
us the heart breaking news that it was a grade 4 glioblastoma, and that this
tumour would never go completely, but they could use chemotherapy and
radiotherapy to reduce the size of the tumour, we were told that mums life
expectancy would be one year. We went on to care for mum at home who was making
progress in her recovery and was due to start her chemotherapy on 18th
November.
During
the early hours on the 15th November, mum wasn’t very well, she had
sickness and diarrhoea and was struggling with movement on one side of her
body. We made the decision to phone 999, who took mum to a&e in Colchester.
They did a CT scan that showed there was swelling on the brain. After a very
short while at a&e we were told that the swelling was too serve.
As
a family we didn’t have very long to get our heads around the diagnosis let alone
losing mum. So i want to raise money to help with the detection of this horrid
tumour. My mum was a young, fit and well lady and this all happened over night,
so there are no signs!
Thank you for your support and any donation big or small.
