Great Scottish Run Half Marathon 2014 · 5 October 2014 ·

Alzheimer Scotland is the leading, national dementia charity in Scotland. Our mission is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide advice, information and support and we are here for people living with dementia, their families and carers across Scotland.

Story

Hi there.

I've recently become a running weirdo so this half marathon was really about my personal fitness - but when I found out that the official charity was Alzheimer Scotland I couldn't bring myself to opt out of running for charity.

My Nanna was very well looked after during her years in a specialist dementia care nursing home but watching Alzheimer's steal her sparkle was incredibly difficult for all of us. The support provided by Alzheimer Scotland to people with Alzheimer's disease and to their families is invaluable. I know that Nanna would be proud not only of my running obsession but that I was using my determination to make a positive difference for families like ours. Find out more at
