Story
For over 20 years, my truly amazing mum has suffered from ME/CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) with Fibromyalgia.
Her whole life has changed drastically since the onset of this illness which has resulted in her everyday experience of severe and debilitating fatigue, relentless pain in her muscles and in her joints, somehow surviving on little or no sleep which has certainly not been through choice or lack of trying. This has all contributed to her suffering from poor memory and concentration and very real respiratory issues. It is a horrid, horrid illness.
On the face of it she continues to fight it, even on her darkest days, and is a true inspiration and advocate to the cause and to many other sufferers. Dedicating herself, with the limited energy she has, to exploring and researching ways to cope and manage everyday life. We are so very proud of her. She is our hero!!
The awful truth is that there is no cure for ME/CFS, there's no universally effective treatment. Knowing this, it is so important that more research into the cause(s), effective treatment of ME/CFS and cure continues and in doing so, raising more understanding and much needed awareness. The ME Association is a charity that is close to our hearts and offers help and support for all people in the UK who are affected by ME/CFS, while also taking very active parts in the medical, welfare and general national arenas.
In the name of our mum, and in aid of this sincerely worthwhile cause, our wee rascal Jax will be pulling on his rambling boots for his very special grunny and taking part in his first charity event! The Great Scottish Toddle! Its part of the Great Scottish Walk and Run Festival and this sub category is specifically for the wee yins. It takes place here in Edinburgh on Sunday 21st June, setting off from Holyrood Park. We know he will do fantastic and make us all proud of him even though he might find it a little difficult to 'toddle' without breaking out into a sprint, haha! He's more of a sprinter that a walker! We can't wait.
If you would like to sponsor Jax's toddle for ME/CFS, you're support would be very very very much appreciated and received with BIG LOVE!! :-)
Thanks so much!!!! xxx
