Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising JustGiving page. On Saturday 10th May I will be racing my first Ironman 70.3 in Mallorca and I hope to raise a little bit of money for a very worthwhile children's cancer charity to make the challenge alot more worthwhile and not all for selfish sporting pursuits.
This is double the distance I have raced before and I am not alone...I will be racing against 3000 other competitors from all nationalities in a long distance triathlon that consists of a 1.2 mile swim in the Med, followed by a 56 mile bike race up and over the mountains behind Alcudia, followed immediately by a half marathon running race. I imagine the race will take me at least 6 and a half hours to complete but I really have no idea - I just hope to finish in one piece and without too many punches during the swim and scary falls on the bike. I have been training solidly for about 6 months over the cold and wet winter here in N.Ireland and am looking forward to the sun on my back at least. I would be very grateful if you are able to donate a few pounds to this very worthwhile charity, come what may.
A fund has been set up called the Ross Patterson fund, to support CLIC Sargent. All contributions to this fund will go to support the work of CLIC Sargent; Every day 10 families are told their child has cancer. CLIC Sargent is the only organisation to offer them all round care and support. They are the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families. They provide clinical, practical and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life. For more information, please visit www.clicsargent.org.uk
