In 2002 my best friend found out the devasting news that a tumour was found on her kidney, resulting in a rare form. I remember Kirsty being amazed that her kidney would be sent all around the world to be researched about. Kirsty's first wish was granted by When You Wish Upon A Star (WYWUAS) to have a fantastic trip, along with a plane filled with poorly children with smiles beaming from their faces, to visit the Real Santa in Lapland.
After going into remission, Kirsty was again to be told more devasting news that another tumour was found and so the strenuous and draining treatment began again. But WYWUAS gave Kirsty some fantastic news that she and her family would be granted the wish to go and see her favourite Disney characters and swim with her beloved dolphins in Florida.
Kirsty left us, to swim with the dolphins in heaven, in 2005.
My pledge, is to climb Ben Nevis via one of its hardest routes with Leon and John. We will climb up Carn Mor Dearg and then across the arête to Ben Nevis. We will be climbing on Kirsty's 25th birthday. I would like to blow out a candle and eat cake on the summit whilst listening to 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love' by The Darkness, one of Kirsty's favourite songs.
In the meantime, we're asking you to donate what you can to help raise money towards making a child's wish to come true. Our aim is to raise £900, which is the amount it costs to send a Wish Child and their parent/guardian to meet the Real Father Christmas in Lapland.
Thank you, Naomi, Leon and John xxx
