Story
Where to begin..... Well, Nan was a mum to 4, grandmother to 13, a sister, a daughter, and a wife. Anyone who was lucky enough to know her knew she centered her whole life around her family and friends. But she was more than that, she was a strong-willed, strong-minded force to be reckoned with.
Nan was the glue that held us together, safe to say.. this is a lot more the truth than I would like to admit too. But no matter the argument, the common denominator in it all is that we are all still grieving the tragic loss of our beloved Wendy and miss her each and every day.
She was courageous, always pushing us to fulfill our dreams and do things that pushed us out of our comfort zones. I believe her words were something along of lines, if it scares you, that's good. It's a new thing to try and if you don't like it...... well....you won't do it again will you?!. So that is exactly why I'm choosing to throw myself out of a plane at 12,000 feet, to push myself way, way out of my comfort zone (11,990 feet out of it) in the hope to raise as much money as possible.
You see, shortly after she fulfilled her final dream of living by the coast of Cornwall, we got the terrible news that anyone dreads hearing, she was diagnosed with that dreaded C word. Cancer. But like I said, she was strong, if anyone could kick the butt of Cancer, it would be her.
Unfortunately, Cancer had different plans and Nan sadly lost her battle, a short 6 weeks after her diagnosis. She was at home, surrounded by her loved ones, and peaceful.
Whilst we are saddened by her passing and often cry for her loss, I'm also filled with happiness that she had a life making constant memories that we will all hold closely and will cherish forever. Whether it be traveling and seeing the world, annual beach day trips, a birthday BBQ, or Nan's Christmas' where we would make room to all squeeze in that living room together, we all miss her each and every day and we can't and couldn't get through this without each other's support.
Now, the reason why I'm throwing myself out of my comfort zone... Nan didn't get long enough after her diagnosis and although I would love to jump for every charity possible (let's see what this one's like first!) to help anyone suffering from Cancer whether it is our loved ones diagnosed and struggling to process the information or friends and family of those loved ones, Cancer Support UK helps provide practical and emotional support to people during and after cancer treatment.
No one should have to face it alone, so please help me raise £1,000 for Cancer Support UK, no matter how large or small your donation can be, it is all hugely appreciated. PLEASE don't let me do this without hitting my target! so even if you can't donate, please share around, in the hope someone may be able to!
I want to thank you all so much for taking the time to listen to me waffle on and thank you all so much for your help! You can see how your donations are helping here: https://cancersupportuk.org/support-us/april-2022-impact-report/
Love to you all
