We are a team of 8 Instructors involved with the Sea Cadet Corps, we are walking coast to coast along Hadrian's wall for the Help for Heroes charity, a total of 84 miles in 4 days.
We will be walking the wall from the 30th April - 3rd May 2010.
H4H is important to us all so we are asking you all to dig deep, sponsor and support us as we prepare to walk the wall in May. Glenn's son Carl flies out on the 17th of September for his tour in Afghanistan on OP Herrick 11 with his Regiment, 1st Battalion, Grenadier Guards. Keith's son Scott is serving in the Gulf aboard HMS Cumberland as part of the Royal Navy's commitment.
As Instructors, 5 0f us are involved on the Royal Marine Cadet side and 3 on the Sea Cadet side, we all have ex Cadets that are now serving with HM Forces so we feel this walk is close to all our hearts.
The Sea Cadet Corps is open to young people aged between 10 - 18, it offers access to a range of adventure and nautical activities, all with a Royal Navy and Royal Marines theme.
We aim to challenge young people to help them grow in confidence and Grow into responsible young adults.
You can find more about the Sea Cadet Corps at: www.sea-cadets.org
As well as the walk team we also have Instructors involved with the support team headed by Chris Cowell, they are currently Viv Buckett, Graeme Dale, Jacquie Truswell and Rachel Shepherd.
We are planning on Cadets from across the NW Area joining the team on sections of the walk throughout the weekend.
(Please note, the date of the walk has been changed to the above because of circumstances beyond the walk teams control, the walk has now been brought forward.)
(A Big thank you to Steve Barty, Steve has been busy helping the team collect money by shaking tins at work and his local pub, also selling lots of H4H Wrist bands. Once we have all the collection tins full and counted, we can add them to our total.)
