Story

Dear Fundraiser,

Many thanks for taking the time to look at our webpage.

Skin cancer is rapidly on the increase in the UK and we see and treat roughly 4000 new patients at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. Latest statistics show that melanoma, one of the most serious forms of skin cancer, is now the single most common cancer of women under 30 years old.

Fortunately, most skin cancers are treatable, especially if they are caught early. However, diagnosing the early, subtle lesions can be tough - even for the professionals. We would like to raise money for a confocal microscope which is a state-of-the-art piece of technology that can look into the skin at the microscopic level to help doctors decide whether a lesion is malignant or not (please click on the video link to the left to see a demonstration). Unfortunately, it is expensive...

Many thanks for your help and thanks for looking,

The Norfolk & Norwich Skin Tumour Unit
