National Numeracy Staff Charity of the Year 2020, 3 February 2020
We help people get the support they need to stay safe from suicide

Story

National Numeracy's staff team have selected Grassroots Suicide Prevention as our charity of the year, undertaking activities in our spare time across 2020 to raise money for this vital suicide prevention work.

This page is collecting all of our fundraising activity together. Despite social distancing, we are determined to keep working towards our fundraising target so we are currently raising sponsorship for our 2.6 Challenge.

On Monday 4th of May the team took part in "A marathon in a lunch break"  using our lunch break for a sponsored walk/run. Our aim as a team was to cover the full marathon distance between us in just 26 minutes. We are delighted that we succeeded and covered more than 34.3 miles in the 26 minutes!

We are thrilled with the fundraising so far and are hugely thankful to everyone who sponsored us. If you would still like to support, we would be very grateful to receive any further donations for this challenge!

The money raised will go to Grassroots to support their vital work. This includes helping to create communities where people have a safe space to talk about suicide, giving people the skills and confidence they need to have lifesaving conversations about suicide and providing resources for those in need (such as the award winning StayAlive app).

Many thanks from the staff team (Abigail Hartfree, Anna Purcell, Ben Perkins, Diane Hume, Emily Kramers, Julia Day, Laura Roca-Diaz, Lizzie Green, Maurice Tse-Leon, Maya Metcalfe, Mike Ellicock, Paul Foss, Paul Milner, Rachel Adams, Richard Leggart, Sally Hilton, Stevie Robinson & Tabitha Reed)

About the charity

We work to make sure nobody has to experience thoughts of suicide alone. We fight dangerous stigma that stops people talking about suicide. We teach communities to recognise and support those at risk. We develop new ways for people to get lifesaving support. Together, we can prevent suicide.
