Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Everyone knows someone whose life has been affected by Cancer. Only the work of Cancer Research will help reduce the number of people and families affected by this awful disease.
I am Captain of the Ladies crew Rowing Around the Coast of Britain in June 2013 to raise money for Cancer Research.
Orginally from Leicester I moved to Ashby de la Zouch a couple of years ago.
I first started rowing 6 years ago for Leicester Rowing Club and soon became addicted and obsessed with the sport. 2012 was a great year for my rowing as I rowed in the Jubilee Pageant and then in August 2012 myself, Jooles Paillin and Neil Martin successfully opened a new rowing club called Devil's Elbow RC on the Trent/Soar.
Unfortunately in the same year the Wife of one of the Jubilee Crew (John Smith) was diagnosed with Cancer. Hilary was not well enough to come to London for the Pagaent but instead watched from her bed recovering from her lastest treatment of Chemo. Thankfully she has now been clear for a few months xx
So this challenge is a perfect opportunity to Raise money for Cancer Research.
We'll be heading off from Tower Bridge, London on June 1st 2013. With all food and supplies for the journey on board. The row is unassisted and we cannot return to land until we have rowed around the whole coast of Britain. The current Women's World Record is 51 days, we aim to beat this by rowing in shifts. 2 hours on - 2 hours off and continously keep the boat moving.
With treachrous tides and the Great British weather it will be an amazing journey
