In 2009 a few of us knackered rugby players decided to try to give a little back and start to raise money for different charities by doing endurance events. To date we have raised over £7000 in 3 years and we aim to raise another £1000 this year. Over the past years we have done the following events
2009 – Ben Nevis ascent and then canoed from the Irish Sea to the North Sea (Across Scotland) via the Caledonain Canal system
2010 – Switzerland to Italy via the Ticino river and Lake Maggoire
2011 – Through Ireland Challenge. Blackwater Town (close to the border) canoed up the Blackwater into Lough Neagh, through Lough Neagh into the Lower Bann and then into the mouth of the Atlantic.
2012- Off road cycle coast to coast England. Start in Bristol (Irish Sea) then to South coast of England, Brighton, English Channel. No roads just trails, paths, forests and canals.
2013- This year we aim to cycle around the largest man made lake in the world, the Ijsselmeer in the Netherlands. Its a 423km trip over a few days and takes it the mighty North Sea Dyke the Afsluitdijk!!
Every single penny of every pound goes to our chosen charities and we pay for our event ourselves. In the past we have raised money for the LIFT project Uganda, Breast Cancer, Chest, Heart and Stroke NI, World Vision well building projects, Dar el Al Wad orphanage, a local disabled motocross rider and Compassion Childrens Charity.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Many Thanks,
