Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page and learning more about NBC Attleborough to Andover Cycle Challenge.
Why are we doing the A2A Cycle Challenge?
Kestrel numbers have been in decline since the later 1980’s and we are in danger of losing Britain’s once most common bird of prey. As keen falconers and wildlife enthusiasts we feel the need to play our part in ensuring that these birds remain part of the British Countryside.
NBC staff members are excited to support the ‘Caring for Kestrels’ project and will be undertaking the Attleborough to Andover (A2A) Challenge. The team sets off from NBC Head Office in Attleborough on the 4 October, aiming to complete the 170 miles over 3 days. The journey will take the team from the relatively flat Norfolk through to the rolling hills of Hampshire.
NBC are proud to be able to join forces with the Hawk Conservancy Trust* (HCT) to help raise funding for the ‘Caring for Kestrels’ four year conservation study to preserve the UK kestrel population.
The Nest Box Challenge, part of the Caring for Kestrels program, is a two day event with teams installing 106 nest boxes over various sites. Chris Packham (The Really Wild Show/Spring Watch) is president of HCT and will be hosting an event on the 14 October 2012 to mark the end of the installation of the boxes and to launch of the study
