Story

CHARITY FUND RAISING FOR MYRA’S 60TH BIRTHDAY YEAR

Having just finished my year of 60th birthday celebrations (and what a fantastic year it’s been!) Myra and I began to discuss what we could do in 2015 for her 60th  birthday.

Guess what she decided – to take on the dream challenge of walking the Great Wall of China, and in just 8 days!  This is to raise money for cancer research at The Christie – a charity very close to her heart.

For those of you who haven’t heard before of this particular adventure; it involves 8 days of walking, a minimum of 7 hours per day, with several ascents and descents it is a challenging hike along this spectacular wonder of the world –“not what would be called a walk in the park but more a test of endurance”

We have committed to raising a combined sum of £8000 plus for The Christie – which is one of the UK’s largest researchers into finding a cure for cancer.

We will be holding a number of events throughout the next twelve months to ensure we exceed our target hope many of you can not only join us in the fun but also give generously.

We will keep you posted as to how our fundraising is progressing and to advise you of future events to help the cause.

There are many ways you can help raise funds - either by donating on line; by text; or by attending one (or all) of the special functions.

As for Myra’s 60th birthday present? Well the training for our trek starts next month - as do the blisters!

I’m sure I will have to take her to some exotic place after the walk for a lot of tender loving care, rest and recuperation!

Thank you once again from both of us.
