Story
On 3rd January 2021 our world and hearts were shattered when we lost my precious son Freddie. He was the very best of people- kind, compassionate, wickedly funny, brave, and so many other words that his school literally managed to fill a book. He spent a long time at GOSH over the years, including his final days. This place is amazing, filled with real life superheroes, from the doctors, nurses, patients, and their families to all the other people both staff and volunteers, without whom the hospital could not run. While the pain is still unbearable, I am at least comforted by the compassion shown in those last days and the effort taken to give him both dignity and some joy. I will forever be indebted for that and the second chance of life they gave to Grace.
On 1st January 2022 I will be setting off to walk the 73 miles (approx) to Great Ormond Street Hospital, arriving there on 3rd January, to coincide with the first anniversary of his death. Freddie went through a huge amount of pain through his life but he never let it stand in his way. He adapted and he pushed to live his life to its fullest, and to honour him I want to push myself and come full circle by completing the journey that has been such a big part of our lives.
All money donated will go to ‘The Freddie Fincham Brighter Future Fund’ raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
