Story
Hi, and thanks for visiting our fundraising page for Myeloma UK.
In September 2022, Robert Milligan and Ewan Ogilvie will be cycling 500km from London to Paris to raise funds for Myeloma UK and help to make Myeloma history!
Ewan was diagnosed with Myeloma in 2019, and following chemotherapy treatment and a stem cell transplant is currently in remission. Ewan has benefited directly from the fantastic work of Myeloma UK since being diagnosed. This ride is an opportunity to support their ongoing efforts for myeloma patients throughout the UK and bring us closer to finding a cure.
Myeloma is a blood cancer arising from plasma cells in bone marrow. At any one time there are around 24,000 people living with myeloma in the UK. It is relatively uncommon, accounting for 15 per cent of blood cancers, and two per cent of all cancers. There is currently no cure for Myeloma, although huge advances have been made in treatments over recent years, and these new treatments are helping to manage symptoms and improve prognosis for myeloma patients.
Myeloma UK is a charitable organisation which works to support the development of new treatments for myeloma, and ultimately to find a cure. This research is critically important, as myeloma is a complex cancer which is relapsing and remitting. This means that many patients are in desperate need of that next course of treatment and are relying on constant development of new and more effective treatment options.
We both hope you can support us by donating to this challenge and helping us to reach our target of £3000. All of our event expenses are being funded personally, so every single penny we raise will go to Myeloma UK to help them to continue their lifesaving work.
Huge thanks in advance for your support, and we look forward to updating you from Paris!
Bonne journée
Robert & Ewan
