Story
Darul Ummah (Goresbrook) 36 Maplestead Road, Dagenham, RM9 4XR
Meet Mustafa Abidin.
The primary school student was inspired greatly by the late England Lionheart, Sir captian Tom.
This Ramadan Mustafa is taking part in a similarly extraordinary feat where he will be completing 100 laps of Darul Ummah Goresbrook community centre garden to raise funds for charity whilst shedding a spotlight on homelessness, rough sleepers and food poverty - real issues which affect whole communities.
Mustafa has chosen four times marathon runner Emdad Rahman MBE as his coach and pacer for this monumental feat.
The nine year old is raising funds for Darul Ummah Goresbrook - The House of the Community, a centre which has engaged its local diverse community and has delivered an array of services run by dedicated volunteers.
This includes:
- Litterpicking
- Youth and education programmes
- Sports Activities
- Coffee mornings
- Hosting community police liaison for safer neighbourhoods
- Local Councillor visits
- Services for women
- Outreach programmes
The momentous event will be broadcast live on Facebook.
Multi talented Mustafa is the Author of Space Teddy and is already a public speaker. He volunteers to help the homeless and lists litter picking as an activity he enjoys a great deal.
Last year Mustafa raised £7,000+ for Darul Ummah Goresbrook and is aiming to beat the £10,000 barrier this Ramadan.
Speaking about his plans he said, “I’m really excited about this campaign and I want to ask all my family and friends and actually anybody who sees my page to help me reach my target and help Darul Ummah Goresbrook carry on with doing fun activities for everyone!”
