Please help Musgrove Park Hospital (MPH) buy a new £1 million MRI scanner.
MPH treats around 235,000 people each year using MRI scanning. The two current MRI scanners work to full capacity seven days a week, and the Trust has to use external providers to meet the demand.
Purchasing a new scanner will reduce waiting lists and costs and improve quality.
A significant proportion of our patients need specialist treatment, requiring detailed imaging that allows accurate early diagnosis and targeted treatment. It will also allow increase participation in valuable new research trials such as the recent prostate cancer diagnosis trial (PROMIS).
MRI images provide the most detailed anatomical and pathological information without the use of radiation. This type of imaging has been extremely useful in the treatment of children, pregnant women, patients suffering from heart conditions and those with cancers.
