Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the week of Alfie's first Angelversary, I will be running the 'Race for Life' in his memory.
(The Race is taking place at Abington Park on the 7th June at 2pm.)
Our beautiful Alfie was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) in July 2013. DIPG is a devastating brain cancer that sadly has no cure. DIPG is both inoperable and incurable, affecting less than 40 children here in the UK every year.
Alfie was a loving, kind and funny boy who never stopped smiling. The bravery he showed throughout his journey will always be my biggest inspiration.
On the 02nd June 2014, we were left heartbroken when our precious little Alfie Bear earned his Angel wings, aged 6. We are incredibly proud of the strength and courage that our beautiful Alfie showed throughout his journey. He will always be our hero and his huge smile and beautiful spirit will live on in all our hearts.
To be told your child has a brain tumour is heart-breaking, but to be told there is 'No known cure' and a 0% survival rate is indescribable. This has to change and we are determined to be a part of this change.
Over £500 million is spent on Cancer Research in the UK every year. Less than 2% of funding goes towards Brain Tumour Research. This not good enough!
DIPG research is extremely underfunded! We can all help make a difference so children do not have to hear such a poor prognosis in the future.
Any donations will be gratefully received. Thank you ♥
