Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Barnardo's has been significant for me at several different times of my life. Within my career I worked at the Barnardos village in East London in their IT Support department and IT Projects team prior to starting teacher training the 1990's. Far more importantly my Dad was once housed in a Barnardo's home for a year or so (Honingham Hall in Norfolk) during a period of significant family instability. I believe my Uncle also spent a period of his childhood in Barnardo's care.
As a teacher I work with children and have worked on Safeguarding Children's Boards both in the London Borough of Redbridge and in my current county of Buckinghamshire. Barnardo's is always actively involved in protecting and safeguarding children and the organisation has moved on significantly in their mission since managing the Children's Homes of the past. If you want to find out more about the wide variety of work Barnardo's does today please take a look at the http://believeinme.barnardos.org.uk website.
I believe in many things. I believe that the Barnardo's organisation are still doing very good things in this country. I believe that completing the marathon will be the toughest challenge I have ever attempted. I believe that this cause is more than just another good cause. I believe Barnardo's creates futures, they help those who are unable to help themselves, they provide hope when hope is in short supply. Please donate, if you are able to, to support their work and to encourage me to keep training and keep going on April 23rd 2017.
