Story

Salaam brothers and sisters.Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. please read until the end. Many of you will have been here before and donated generously but if you're visiting for the first time then a big big welcome.

This is an ongoing page with previous donations already showing.

I have been an active IKCA volunteer for the past 8 years and am very passionate about the charity. I have completed many challenges in that time, including climbing England's highest mountain Scafell Pike and the highest mountain in Wales, Mount Snowdon both in fancy dress. Both were tough but not as tough as completing the National 3 Peaks challenge in 24hrs. Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Mt Snowdon to finish off. I have also organised many stalls at Melas around the country.

Now I may have bitten off more than I can chew and signed up to the daddy of all challenges.

IMRAN KHAN CANCER APPEAL have officially organised a trek to Mount Everest Base Camp in Nepal to raise money for the SHAUKAT KHANUM MEMORIAL CANCER HOSPITALS in Lahore and Peshawar. This is the highest mountain in the world standing at 8,848m high and Base Camp is at 5,380m. The height is a very daunting five times higher than Mount Snowdon. Imagine standing outside and looking up and climbing five and a half kilometres.

Mountain climbing is difficult, requires fitness, stamina and determination. We will be trekking for upto 7 hours a day in tough terrain.  All this can be trained for, but what worries me the most is altitude sickness. This can be very serious and we won't know how our bodies will react until we experience it. Another worrying thing is Lukla airport. Apparently it's one of the most dangerous airports in the world.

Here's how you can help:

Firstly, by joining us. We have a maximum of 20 places and at the time of writing we have 6 places left. The only equipment needed are good walking boots and some trekking poles. Porters will carry our equipment leaving us with daysacks.

Secondly, if you can't join us then spread the word and hopefully someone else could join us.

Thirdly, if you can make a donation to IKCA through my page that would encourage me and a massive help the charity.

Please sponsor me as much as you can, If you can't donate then please share the page so others can donate. You will still benefit from sharing Insha'Allah.

You can donate via text message too. Just text the code IKCA47 £1 or IKCA47 £2 or IKCA47 £5 or IKCA47 £10 to 70070 from the UK

I decided to raise money for Imran Khan Cancer Appeal to try and give something back to Imran Khan and Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital because he has done so much for cricket in our country and was the captain during our greatest triumph in 1992 when we won the world cup. As a cricket fan myself I feel it is my turn now to try and return the kindness and raise as much money as I can.

When Imran's mother passed away, he had a vision to build a cancer hospital but many people said it can't be done. Hospital treatment is expensive as it is but cancer treatment is mega expensive. But thanks to people like yourselves here we are 23 years after the first hospital opened in Lahore still going strong Masha'Allah with a second opened in Peshawar and a third being built in Karachi as we speak.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please support me and my cause, spread the word so others can help and Insha'Allah together we can help Imran Khan in his fight against Cancer in Pakistan.

Thank you.

Forever grateful

Amjad - Mr P
