Story
During the current COVID-19 crisis, front-line NHS workers are wearing respirator masks to protect themselves and others from Coronavirus. Annoyingly, research suggests that having a beard or stubble may interfere with the effectiveness of these masks, meaning healthcare workers are having to brave the shave to ensure their masks work properly - keeping everyone safe.
The good news is, any facial hair that fits entirely under a mask does not affect the level of protection provided, meaning there is some facial hair that can be grown safely - notably the legendary moustache. Embracing this, members of the ambulance service (along with friends and family in solidarity) are growing moustaches and using it as an opportunity to raise money for charity. We give you: Movid-19!
All money raised by Movid-19 will go to The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC). Ambulance staff are faced with illness, loss and trauma on a daily basis; even more so during the current pandemic, where staff are putting their own physical health at risk in order to help others. TASC is the leading UK charity in providing support for the mental, physical and financial well-being of the ambulance community. Their services include counselling, support with trauma and PTSD and bereavement support, and during these unprecedented times, the work they do is more important than ever.
