Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 5th June I’m having a go at cycling from Land’s End to John O’ Groats, covering an average of 70 miles over 14 consecutive days. I wasn’t intending to raise money on this trip, which started out as a fun challenge for our village cycle group, but a few things have happened that are going to make this rather more of a trial.
On 26th March I was knocked off my bike and had to take some weeks off cycling to recover. When I got back on my bike, I was desperate to make up for lost training time and overdid my assaults of the local hills, triggering patellar tendinitis in both knees.
So for the past few weeks I’ve had to significantly reduce my training, and in case sore knees and lack of preparation lead to me bail out at any point, I'm setting my sponsorship goal at four days/270 miles, though I am going to try to make the whole trip. Mark is also doing the ride, and isn’t doing a separate fundraising page, so hopefully one of us will make it to John O’ Groats!
Any money you donate will go towards My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, which raises money for research into Motor Neurone Disease. I’m doing it in support of my dear friend Jenny Brown’s son Davy Zyw. Davy's reaction to his own MND diagnosis at the age of 31 and his subsequent fundraising and campaigning activities have been utterly inspirational.
Thanks in anticipation.
