Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am part of a team of 16, heading to Tanzania, East Africa in April 2014 for a 15-day international volunteer expedition in partnership with Raleigh International.
Our team’s primary project will be the installation of a water distribution system. Only 54% of the 42.5 million population of Tanzania has access to a sustainable water supply. Poor access, both in terms of availability and quality, impacts other areas of life: the time taken for women and children to physically reach the source and collect the water patently has an impact on day-to-day existence; if the water is not clean it has a detrimental effect on health which in turn affects both children’s education and their ability to attend school, and on an adult’s ability to work.
Tanzania faces many challenges from the adverse effects of climate change and deforestation, such as water shortages, and human-animal conflict. Volunteers having been working together with communities on projects to tackle these issues, therefore every donation counts, no matter how small.
