Story
Hey!
On the 21st of September we have participated in a charity event called the Carrots NightWalk. The NightWalk was founded last year by a charity called Fight for Sight (www.fightforsight.org.uk). Fight for Sight has been raising funds for pioneering research since 1965 to strengthen our understanding of eye diseases in order to help with their diagnosis, find treatments, and prevent sight loss. Fight for Sight supports research of many eye diseases, both common and rare.
One of the charities that Fight for Sight is helping to raise money for is the Birdshot Uveitis Society (BUS). BUS is a charity founded for people suffering from a rare eye disease called Birdshot Chorioretinopathy (often called Birdshot or Birdshot Uveitis). Birdshot is a rare and hard to treat, autoimmune eye disease with no cure which can lead to blindness. (For more information visit www.birdshot.org.uk)
We chose to take part in the Carrots NightWalk to raise money for this charity because a year ago, one of our friends, Lorraine, was diagnosed with Birdshot. Luckily she was able to get the necessary treatment in order to restrain the inflammation. However, not everyone suffering from Birdshot is able to get this treatment. It is very important to keep on raising funds for crucial research that can help find a cure and to help support the people suffering from this terrible eye disease.
Please help by sponsoring us by donating to our JustGiving page. Just a few pounds are enough to make a difference!
Thank you so much! :)
