Story
Four friends (Peter, Russell, Smithy and Harry) are attempting to drive an 18 year-old London black cab (affectionately known as Tina) from the UK to Mongolia during the summer of 2018. This journey will take us through Europe, Central Asia and Russia on a 13,500 mile round trip.
We are raising money for Go Help, a UK based charity with the aim of providing access to education and healthcare services in Central Asia and Central America.
Their core objectives include:
- To promote charitable adventuring;
- To enable access to primary healthcare through the provision, distribution and maintenance of emergency vehicles;
- To foster local talent, through providing scholarships and employment opportunities to young people;
- To support education projects which provide opportunities for literacy and self-improvement; and
- To facilitate the placement of skilled health and education volunteers with the aim of enhancing the capacity of local communities.
We chose this charity as we feel the ease of access to basic services in the UK is often overlooked and unappreciated, especially when considering the challenges faced by those in less developed countries, where the nearest school / hospital / clinic etc. can be a many-day hike away.
For each donation, we will etch/paint your name somewhere on Tina (the Taxi), as a symbol of our gratitude and a show of your good heart.
