Story
We are Back!
Donie and I finished, first and second in this years Mongol Derby. As many of you know that the race was over a 1000km using 25 of the Mongolian horses. It took us a gruelling 7 and a half days to complete ahead of the 34 who lined up at the starting line. From there we encountered every sort of terrain, except snow! Up and down Mountains, crossing rivers, getting lost, falling off in water, sleeping in a cattle shed, eating and sleeping in some random Mongolians urrt, eating only mutton on the occasions we ate. Weather changes from 5 degrees at night to over 30 degrees in the day, from several thunderstorms.
It tested us mental and physically but we got through the 14 hours of riding everyday to get to the finishing line in front. Thank you to all who have helped us along the way, the horses, the Mongolian people, the Vets, the other Riders, the Adventurists, William Hill and most importantly to the people who have donated to make this strange, gruelling, quirky, crazy race that happens over 5,000 miles away outside Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia, The Mongol Derby, from an idea to reality.
We still would love more support to give to the Injured Jockeys Fund, so please continue to support us!
