Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Monette Mortiga, a Clinical Research Nurse at University College London Hospital, Thoracic Medicine Department. Born and raised in the Philippines but ended up living in different countries when I started working. I guess that would explain my adventurous spirit! I fell in love with running when I was in Belgium and did a couple of running events here and there as well as getting myself into these obstacle runs which were quite crazy but fun! I enjoyed all of it, the aches and the pain, but they both go along with each other I suppose when you are running and I think the most applicable quote here is "No pain, no gain." haha...
Running the London Marathon and to be part of it has always been a big dream of mine most especially fundraising for a charity, which means you are not just running for yourself and your bucket list but you are running for a good cause. I knew back then that it is very hard to get a spot for this marathon, but it never did discourage me to give up and loose hope. In fact, it made me more motivated more than ever that one day I would be doing it! And voila! Here I am, running the marathon in October this year and fundraising for the UCLH Charity UK! Yay! I would never be able to make it if not for my friend/colleague Greg who encouraged me to apply for the slot thru the UCLH Charity UK. Thank you so much! Expressing my utmost gratitude as well to the UCLH Charity for choosing me to run for them. It would be an honour to be fundraising for this charity because it is not just about fun and prestige that I am running at the TCS London Marathon event, but ultimately because I am doing it with purpose to help raise awareness of its cause which is "Supporting Patient Care, Training and Developing Staff, Environment and Equipment, and Advancing Research."
My sincerest thank you to all those who cheered and supported me!!! I made to the finish line!!! Yay!!! Woohoo!!!
