Please sponsor me to make a difference:
Dear All
I can now proudly announce that I have run the Virgin London Marathon (26.2 miles) on 13 April 2014 to fulfil my part of the commitment to raise money to support the very valuable work Whizz-Kidz, a disabled children’s charity carry out.
Although, it took me 5 hours and 59 minutes to complete the run on my very first attempt the pain and agony I endured was all worth every bit of it as the cause it was for was far far greater.
I would like to thank everyone who have already sponsored me and Whizz-Kidz, your support is invaluable and will go towards bringing smiles to the faces of disabled children that need the support most...hence thank you very very much everyone!
I would also like to remind and request my friends and colleagues who have pledged or thought about making a donation to the amazing work Whizz-Kidz carry out to come forward and make their donation at the earliest possible.
Once again, I thank you all for your kindness, support and encouragement and could not have done it without you all on board...your encouragements, love and belief has made all the difference.
Best wishes and regards
Mohammed Nasir Uddin
About Whizz-Kidz and what they do:
The aim of Whizz-Kidz is to ensure that every disabled child has an opportunity to be something special…a kid.
There are an estimated 70,000 disabled children and young people in the UK waiting for a wheelchair that fits their young lives and that’s where Whizz-Kidz comes in. Whizz-Kidz gives special wheelchairs to disabled children; children who are unable to walk at all or can only walk short distance either with help or without.
I have met some of the children that have received special wheelchairs from Whizz-Kidz and every one of them have said it has given them independence whereas before getting these special wheelchairs they would have to rely on others to address their most basic daily needs. The level of confidence, enthusiasm and happiness demonstrated by these children due to having these special wheelchairs is simply wonderful to witness but there are still a large number of children on the waiting list that Whizz-Kidz is hoping to help!
Lauren was given a very special wheelchair by Whizz-Kidz which supports her enough to let her stand up and help her herself and her mum in the kitchen.
When Sasha another child helped by Whizz-Kidz got her wheelchair she was able to do lots more than she could before:
• She could reach objects at all levels – high or low
• Explore her house on her own
• Get herself a drink
• Lower herself to the floor to play with her puppy
Lauren and Sasha (take a look at the pictures under the photo section) mentioned above and many other children are being helped by Whizz-Kidz!
Therefore, please sponsor me by making a donation that will go to Whizz-Kidz to help their wonderful work with disabled children.
