Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I’m standing up to my breast cancer and have so far raised over £1,170 for a charity very dear to my heart, my original JustGiving page can be found here where you can read my full story http://tinyurl.com/n3fn5wf

This is my second fundraiser which I hope will allow me to reach or better still overachieve my original fundraising target of £2,500 for RRC.

Just before Christmas I made a decision to turn a negative situation I found myself in, into a positive action to help others.

I was diagnosed with Breast cancer last year and started chemotherapy in Late November and as a result my hair started to fall out in handfuls which left me upset, miserable and normally in tears each day so after some discussion with my boyfriend and my family I decided that after Christmas I would go public with my cancer with two objectives the first was to take my positivity and try to inspire other that maybe going through similar situations, or worse.  My second objective was to try and help other by fundraising so I agree a date, the 25 January and this was the date when I would no longer have to get upset because my hair was falling out, I set up a JustGiving page to try and raise some desperately needed funds for a charity I have been involved with as a volunteer for a while now. A very deserving charity, that is 100% volunteer run which not only rescues and saves ex racehorses from possible slaughter or worse, but also uses the rescue horses to provide wonderful free opportunities for disadvantaged people around the country. The charity I am very proud to be associated with.. The Racehorse rescue Centre..

With the date of January the 25 set, I now just had to get busy promoting my hair shaving event, no problem for someone who has done lots of promoting and fundraising in the past has a social media and sales and marketing background … that’s what I thought!!! I didn’t bargain on picking up a cold bug during the period between Christmas and the New Year that turned into double pneumonia and pleurisy … and has had me confined to my bed for 31 days now. However with a massive amount of help from my family, my boyfriend and some amazing friends the event went ahead as planned and we managed to raise over £1,170 for RRC. This was much lower than I had originally set the target at but considering I was unable to get out and really push the event I think we all did really well.

Now!... With me being Sarah, and anyone who knows me well, will be smiling right now… I don’t give up easily at anything and am never happy until I have overachieved my targets, needless to this is my second fundraiser which will run alongside my original JustGiving page. This time I am, with huge thanks, to very good friend, (and my own personal shoes designer!!)  Mr Pippen McGrath (https://www.facebook.com/pippenmcgrathairbrushing) has very kindly donated the 1 Prize worth a whopping £160.00 which has allowed me to organise this very exciting raffle, with prizes worth £220+
