Story
Myself and my best friend Hettie are running for the wonderful charity - the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity. Each year hundreds of children with cancer come go to the QE hospital for radiotherapy - a scary experience for any person, let alone young and frightened children.
Along with our help, the QEHB Charity aims to raise £250,000 to help create a child-friendly environment for the children - apdtly named the VIP TREATMENT. We are hoping to raise £4,000 between us - one thousand per hour we will be challenging the London route.
We want to be able to help give these children a pleasant experience as possible, creating a child-orientated area in the Radiotherapy department. This will be a light, bright, welcoming space with toys and games to take their minds off their treatment ahead. What’s more, they would like to give every child who receives radiotherapy a toy.
These children are so brave and receiving this treatment can be so very daunting - so anything we can do to put them at ease will massively reduce their anxiety and stress when undertaking the therapy.
Thank you for visiting our page (Rachael Barker - Miss Birmingham 2013 and Henrietta Cook) and looking to donate for our London Marathon on the 13th April 2014! We want to go the extra mile, 26 in fact, to help put at ease the young and frightened children going through such a daunting experience.
Anything you possibly can donate at any point will be so gratefully received.
