Story
Hi there,
Thank you for taking the time to view my page - it means a lot! I'll try to keep this short and sweet, but before I continue: I know that we are all finding the cost of living a challenge at the moment, so please know I appreciate any amount of donations, big or small, it goes a long way.
I am 1 in 10 of the people diagnosed with Endometriosis [Pronounced End-Oh-Meet-Rio-Sis], assigned female at birth.
I signed up for the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise vital funds for Endometriosis UK! I am doing this for me, for the community and future generations who I hope don't have to tackle the system like we did/do.
Endometriosis is when cells like the lining of the uterus grow in other areas and react in similar ways. It is: Incurable, invisible and life altering.
Endo is painful. It causes heavy periods, bloating, infertility, pelvic pain, difficulty with bowel & bladder movements, to name a few symptoms!
The impact can be felt for life. It takes an average of 8 years to get a diagnosis in the UK, due to misdiagnosis', lack of funding or understanding on the condition.
Endometriosis UK provide support through volunteer run helplines and groups across the country, webinars, general information on Endometriosis AND regularly hold campaigns to fight for a better standard of treatment.
If you're able to donate, then please do - I'm not a runner, so it'll give me the cheeky encouragement I need to keep training!!
See you at the finish line,
Miri
