Shaving my head · 6 February 2016

Alopecia UK is a national charity providing support, community and education to improve the lives of those affected by alopecia. The charity relies on individual fundraisers and donors to continue its work. Alopecia UK receives no government or statutory funding.

Story

I've taken the plunge! I'm a member of a Zen sangha and I'm taking part in a ceremony called 'receiving tokudo' - which means becoming a monk. It's hard to explain what the ceremony means, it's just the next step for me and involves making a commitment to the practice with my teacher.

I'm raising funds for Alopecia UK. I'm choosing to have my head shaved which feels quite a big deal, but of course it's entirely my choice, and only temporary. Some people don't have that choice. Please support this undervalued charity.
