Perennial is the UK’s only charity dedicated to helping everyone who works in horticulture, and their families, when times get tough. Working in horticulture isn't just gardeners, but also landscapers, designers, grounds maintenance staff, green keepers, tree surgeons, groundsmen, British seed and turf growers, parks and gardens staff and many, many more. And horticulture professions are still relatively low paid but can be physically gruelling.

Perennial provides free and confidential advice, support and financial assistance to people of all ages working in, or retired from horticulture. This help extends to spouses, partners and children.

I love gardening and feel lucky to work in the horticulture industry, so raising some much needed funds is a way for me to give something back. I am not great with heights so the thought of doing an abseil is slightly terrifying and totally out of my comfort zone. But if I can raise a little bit of money it will make it worthwhile.
