MIND YOUR HEAD presented a night of live music in the hopes of raising money and awareness for Mind.
Mind Your Head was more than a charity gig, it was a place that people could come together and support one another as well as sharing awareness. It was an event to stand up to mental health and stigma, and say that we are going to make a change. So please spare what you can.
The event had an amazing line up including The Carnabys, Judas, Sisteray, Charlie Deelun and DJ set from Rat Boy. The event packed out with the most amazing supporters who helped raise so much money and awareness.
The idea is, what better way is there than using the joy of music to create a society that want to talk about mental health? To create a safe and common ground for everyone where they can enjoy themselves. From experience, Mind has given so much to mine and those closest to me recoveries. It is time to give something back in the hope that others who are suffering can find comfort and solace.
Whether you have or haven't personally been affected by some form of mental health issue, it is more than likely that someone close to you has or is suffering. With it being estimated that 1 in 4 people in England will experience a mental health problem in any given year as well as mental health and behavioural problems (e.g. depression, anxiety and drug use) being the primary drivers of disability worldwide, causing over 40 million years of disability in 20 to 29-year-olds, there has never been a more pressing time to raise awareness and raise money to support those who are being affected.
Since 12 I have suffered with Bipolar Disorder. Without the help of the charity and loved ones it's safe to say I wouldn't be here. The charity and loved ones have supported me through addictions and many negative dilemmas which I don't think I could have conquered without such support. My aim is to carry on Mind Your Head to create nights where people can come and enjoy themselves whilst showing support and standing up to mental health and stigma.

SISTERAY
Four boys from London who have set themselves the task of re-writing the indie guitar rule book.
Back in January they bumped into Radio One DJ Phil Taggart, handing him a CD of new songs recorded with producer Rory Attwell( The Vaccines / Palma Violets / The Bulletproof Bomb). Two days later he played 'A Wise Man Said' on Radio 1 describing it as a 'gnarly piece of tuneful punk', the track was playlisted on Radio X and featured on BBC Introducing in London and BBC Radio 6 Music.
Sisteray were part of This Feeling's 'Big In 2016' series of gigs, selling out their shows at their own club night Welcome To The Monkey House and played festivals this summer including the Official Isle of Wight Festival, Leeds Festival, Camden Rocks Festival and Party In The Pines Festival
Sisteray are also not afraid to get behind a cause or confront issues and their song 'Gentrification' has become the unofficial anthem for the #FIGHTBACK campaign to support grass roots venues across the UK, threatened with closure and restrictive legislation.
Sisteray have a new single available 'Who R Ya?' and a new EP due after Christmas.
