Story
It's now a LONG time back to reality for Celine and I following a fantastic honeymoon in South Africa....damp and dreich mornings are not quite the same....
We would first of all like to say a huge Thank You to each and every one of you for helping to make Friday 18 September 2009 a day that neither of us will ever forget. It was the best celebration we could have wished for and we hope everyone had as much of a ball as we did! The task of thanking everyone formally for their support, love and generous gifts is under way with cards finally on their way out.
As most (tho perhaps not all?!) of you will recall, a good day got even better when Rev Ian Miller announced that no-one need put a hand in their pocket for drinks following the meal. For the record, this was NOT planned by the bride and groom; our budget was a long time 'burst' before we could contemplate the prospect of a subsidised - let alone free - Bar. Plus, we knew how much some of you could drink...it could only have resulted in financial meltdown for us!
Somewhere along the line, fate intervened and circumstances conspired to deliver what some may consider (with the benefit of hindsight) to be "The MOTHER of all FREE Parties"....judging by the texts, e-mails and comments received since, we are fairly satisfied that we threw a pretty good bash.
From a day that will forever be the source of the happiest of memories for us it would be fantastic to create something positive for others in far less fortunate circumstances. So, in conjunction with Loch Lomond Golf Club, we set about using the opportunity to raise funds for the Club's chosen charity; The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow. The hospice provides specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting illnesses, usually cancer, and support for their families and carers.
The envelopes placed on each of the tables drew donations totalling £750 and this alone will be gratefully received by the hospice; a sincere Thank You to all who donated on the night. We have decided to follow up that collection with this page to give people a further opportunity to make a donation towards this fantastic cause. The Bride and Groom would like each of you to consider this a 'Donation of Thanks' to the many people who helped make the day the success it was, and particularly to the staff of Loch Lomond Golf Club who must take much of the credit for making it such a memorable, fun and relaxed celebration.
We would dearly love to take the end total much higher so please take this opportunity to reflect on the day that we all enjoyed; the very worthy cause that will benefit 100% from your donation; the sum of money you might have expected to have been 'relieved of' during the course of the night's celebrations; but, ultimately, please think of those in far less fortunate circumstances than we enjoyed on Friday 18 September 2009 and judge for yourself if you are in a position to say Thank You in a way that will make a positive difference for the Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow.
Thank you, once again, for leaving us with the lasting legacy of a fantastic wedding day.
Please give generously. We already have, as our way of saying Thank You to all who helped to make our day so very special.
Love & Best Wishes
