Story
We are committed to building three classrooms at Emazinyeni Primary School in Malawi.
The school has only 4 purpose built classrooms that are in use. Therefore with the current enrolment of 438 learners the current classroom:pupil ratio is 1:109. This has a significant impact on their education and the exam pass rate has been fluctuating with only a small number of children being selected to go secondary school . This is attributed the lack of conducive teaching and an inappropriate learning environment.
We want to help change that.
Unfortunately covid-19 meant that we had to cancel our planned trip as well as numerous fundraisers but we want to make sure that we are still able to make an impact on the children at the school.
Our aim is to cover the 7,000 mile distance and raise enough money to allow us to work with our partners at Classrooms for Malawi and local builders to complete this project as soon as possible.
You can join our challenge by helping us cover the distance by running, walking or cycling throughout the month of October and by tagging us on Twitter @WWHSMalawi so that we can track the distance or by joining our 'Miles to Malawi' club on Strava.
If we can raise £1 for every mile that we need to cover then we will be able to make a lasting improvement to the education of the children at Emazinyeni PS.
