Story
This summer I am cycling to/from most of my performances at Glyndebourne. I am delighted that Adrian Bending is joining me on many of these. We are cycling either one or both ways from Bexhill (24 miles) but also from various Sussex railway stations.
I had the thought of dedicating these cycle journeys to raising some funds for the charity Myeloma UK.
Myeloma UK has been extremely helpful to me over the past 3.5 years, since my diagnosis with the disease at the beginning of 2016. A specialist nurse has been available to me between hospital/consultant appointments - giving general support, advice and clarification of the various complicated medical information given to me at various points. Recently Myeloma UK have been very proactive in securing research into new medications for Myeloma - in particular, a tablet form of treatment for the recurrence of the disease. This means that someone like me could carry on working and travelling whilst on treatment, instead of having to visit hospital for injections or intravenous infusions.
We have already cycled approximately 800 miles in a month and might get close to 1000 by the end of the season. OAE players and friends can follow our progress on the Glyndebourne notice board and we will put updates on here.
Many thanks in advance for your support!
