Story
On the 24th June 2017 Simon May (AKA the Hare) is taking part in a non stop coast to coast cycle race, a 12 hour, 150 mile slog from Seascale on the West coast to Whitby in the East, taking in some of the toughest, most mountainous cycling terrain in the UK.
Mike Ashton (AKA the Tortoise) will be undertaking the identical 150 mile route on foot, although in order to make it a fair race, Simon (Hare) will be giving Mike (Tortoise) a 6 day head start. If all goes according to plan it will come down to a photo finish at around 7:30pm on a balmy Whitby evening. What could possibly go wrong?
Our objectives are:
To acknowledge the strength and bravery of Frank Ashton and all other young people who find themselves battling cancer in similar circumstances through no fault of their own.
To increase awareness of childhood cancer.
To generate sponsorship income to be used specifically for research into cause and cure of childhood cancer.
We are raising funds for the regional childhood cancer charity Candlelighters, we have requested specifically for the sum to be allocated toward a Childhood Cancer research project. Every single penny raised will go straight to this cause.
