The Town Centres of Calderdale Challenge
The Peloton, made of up of staff, volunteers and students will leave Ravenscliffe at 9.30am on Sunday 12th June, and head by road to Brighouse via Elland hoping to arrive by 11am. We'll then double back on the canal towpath, and start the long ride to Luddenden Foot via Sowerby Bridge which should take around about an hour.
We'll then re-join the main road, and head through Hebden Bridge and on to Todmorden before again doubling back on the canal to Mytholmroyd for a well earned lunch stop. On the home straight, we'll continue up to King Cross before a right turn past Savile Park Moor, with the aim of arriving back at Ravenscliffe for 4pm.
Waiting for us will be those attending our "Right Royal Knees Up"; a street party held at School in celebration of the Queen's 90th Birthday. Throughout the ride, the peloton will be accompanied by some of our incredible students using a number of our adapted bikes, including tandems and our Velo-Plus, which allows wheelchair users to cycle too.
The aim of this years ride is to raise awareness of the Ravenscliffe@SpringHall project, which is due to open it's doors in September 2017. The centre will provide exciting new learning opportunities for our KS5 students, as well as alleviating significant capacity issues at the main school site. Importantly, the centre will include a wide range of facilities for use by the local and wider community, including a Community Cafe, Sports Changing Rooms and state-of-the-art teaching spaces.
