Thanks for visiting my JustGiving fundraising page. For the seventh
consecutive year, I am leading a team running the BUPA London 10,000 in aid
of the Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases and The National Brain Appeal.
There are over 100 different neuromuscular
diseases encompassing a wide range of muscle wasting diseases that can develop
in childhood or in adult life. These include motor neuron disease, Charcot
Marie Tooth disease (CMT), muscular dystrophy, Channelopathies, myasthenia
gravis and mitochondrial diseases. They may shorten life expectancy or cause
life-long disabilities.
Since we first set ourselves this annual
challenge, we have raised over £120,000 for the Centre. The impact of this has been incredible and has helped us to maintain our commitment to training the next generation of scientists, nurses, therapists, doctors and clinical research specialists.
This year, we hope to raise
funds to continue these training programmes as well as support the
re-development of the operating theatres at the National where many of our
patients have procedures, including nerve and muscle biopsies.
I do hope you will be able to support us: any donation, no matter how small,
will be gratefully received and will help to make a very real difference.
