1 Hip replacement, 3 Heart Attacks, 6 stents, oh and almost forgot and 1 stroke
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation's research and I'd be so grateful for your support. I'm late putting this page up because to be honest i've had a few setbacks recently and didn't want to let anyone down, but I now know that i can do this.
My Story
During 2015 I went from being able to run 10kms and 1/2 marathons for fun to not being able to run a bath. This resulted in me having Hip Replacement surgery on the 1st November 2015, and then it started to really go wrong :-)
- 04/11/15 - Heart Attack No 1
- 10/11/15 - Heart Attack No 2
- 04/01/16 - Heart Attack No 3
And becauise that didn't kill me off I was dealt another blow on the 11 January 2016 when I
suffered a stroke
.
During this time I've been fitted with 6 stents, the last of which was implanted on 6th June 2016.
I have been told numerous times that the reason i'm still here is because i was very fit to start with. But I also know that besides being fit one of the reasons I'm still here is due to the excellent care and follow-up I received, much of which is only possible by the life saving research into inherited heart conditions and coronary heart disease carried out by the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
I realise that i've been extremely lucky, and i'm determined to make the most of it and do what I can in my own small way to help others.
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, £10 pays for a researcher toolkit, 35 pays for 125 microscope slides to enable researchers to study faulty heart cells, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
