I have finally taken the plunge, and decided to do my first ever (proper) Great North Run, after many years of finding any excuse not to. As a complete non-runner until not that long ago, I'm going to need all the help I can get!

The last year has been extremely challenging for just about everyone. It was understandable when the 2020 GNR was cancelled, but I did manage to do the virtual GNR, in support of NHS Charities.

I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation's research and I'd be so grateful for your support. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. 

I appreciate that these are still challenging times, but as we hopefully get ever closer to the new normal way of life, I think we've all discovered a new found sense of appreciation for what we have around us, and also the benefits of keeping fit and active.
