Story
We have created this page in memory of Mick to help raise crucial funds for the research into cancer, which affects far too many of us.
Many of you will know that we lost Mick to cancer on 24th of January. Mick received a diagnosis of treatable oesophagus cancer just after Christmas. Ten days later he was admitted to hospital as he was so weak. The Consultant then told us he’d only seen four cases of this super aggressive cancer and gave us the dreadful news that Mick would only have ten to fifteen days left with us. Sadly, it turned out to be only four but he now rests in a more peaceful, pain free place.
Two months later we are all still quite numb but are slowly coming to terms with the reality that he is no longer in our lives. We would like to celebrate his life with something positive that will help in the research into this truly awful disease.
Those that knew Mick wouldn’t be surprised to know he never once complained or even really spoke about his health from the moment he was diagnosed. He'd just attempt to bravely shrug it off, even though it was clear he was in pain and was struggling to eat.
We would be grateful of any contribution you are willing to make, regardless of how large or small, in memory of Mick - Husband to Phil, Dad to Dave, Helen, Sarah & Les, Grandad to Maisie, Izzy , Adam & Michael, friend to many - and all of the loved ones we have all lost to this truly cruel disease.
Due to the kindness of so many people we have raised the target from the original £500 to an incredible £3000.
This charity exists to raise awareness of the dangers of persistent heartburn, something which none of us (Micks family) were really even aware of.
