Story

Two years ago in September 2014 just 3 months before my 53rd birthday I entered my first 12K Obstacle Race - Tough Mudder London South. Very apprehensive and very nervous at the thought of it. By the time I had finished it I was in awe of everything endurance based. I immediately pledged that I wanted to complete at least 10 extreme endurance events before I turn 60. I guess thats a kind of bucket list ?

Entering this Rat Race - Man v Mountain event will be the 4th of my minimum goal of 10 events that I have set my self before I hit that ripe old age.

This will be by far the toughest event to date. It is a 22 mile challenge with an ascent of 5055 feet including a vertical kilometre  ......its not for the faint hearted. Starting from sea level at Caernarfon the first 15 miles are a continuous ascent to the summit of Mount Snowdon – the UK’s second highest mountain. From the summit the route descends but then twist and turns through numerous hills………..however its not just a run ….. its also an obstacle course which includes some jumping, swimming, climbing and one or two other surprises…….. The average time to complete the course is just under 6 hours. I'm taking on this Rat Race challenge as part of a 10 man team and we are all looking to raise money for Friends of Wisdom Hospice in Rochester Kent.

I'm already looking forward to completing this one and getting it off that to do list. Then onto another two events later in September. Please support me and this great cause in whatever way you can.
