Story

On the 21st of April 2024, my 49th birthday, I will be
running the London Marathon, not just as a personal challenge, but as a way to
give back to Blue Cross, the most incredible charity that has been a beacon of
hope in my life.   I have decided to embark on a journey that
goes beyond celebration – a journey that is a testament to the strength of the
human spirit and the power of love.

But my commitment doesn't end with the London Marathon.
Starting this week, I am taking on an extraordinary challenge of running 45
miles over Brecon Beacons.  I have then
dedicated 2024 to running over 500 racing miles, which includes 4 Ultra
Marathons, 6 Marathons, and 4 Half Marathons. This journey is not just about
physical endurance; it is a journey of determination and spirit that will take
me through several iconic European cities.

The reason behind this ambitious undertaking is simple – to
support the Blue Cross, a charity that has made a significant difference in my
life and the lives of many others. The numbers tell a story of impact: 17,362
individuals have been helped by the Pet Bereavement Support Service, and I was
one of those 17,362 people that accessed the lifesaving service.

On the 22nd of March 2022, I experienced a world shattering
loss – my beloved Bailey, who brought immeasurable joy and laughter into my
life, was suddenly taken from me. The pain of losing him turned my once bright
world into a dark and lonely place. The Blue Cross became my lifeline during
this difficult time. The support they provided was more than just a comforting
presence; it was the reason I got out of bed everyday.

They say that to love and lose is better than never to have
loved at all. Bailey was more than a pet; he was my reason to smile. The Blue
Cross not only supported me through the grieving process but continues to make
a difference by providing loving homes for pets in need.

So, as I lace up my running shoes and take on this
challenging journey, I invite you to join me in supporting the Blue Cross. Your
contributions will go a long way in giving hope to pets that need love, care,
and attention. Together, let's make a meaningful impact and honour the memory
of Bailey by supporting a cause that is truly special.

With gratitude and hope,

Michelle & Bailey
