Story
On Sunday, 18th September, I will take to the streets of Tyneside once again, where I will take part in the Great North Run......for the 10th time!!!
This time, however, the run will have much more poignancy and significance for me, as in February of last year, my life and that of my family, was shattered when I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
From the date of the diagnosis, through the months of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery, I was given the most remarkable support, assurance and treatment imaginable. This was carried out by a group of very special nurses, doctors, consultants and surgeons, who work tirelessly against this awful disease, on a daily basis.
In June of this year, I was given the news I so hoped for......that the treatment had been successful....and it was entirely down to the dedication and skill of the people who cared for me.
No words will ever allow me to express the gratitude I feel towards those who helped me battle this disease, one which sadly affects so many women and often men, today.
It is because of the people I mention on this page that I am able to take part in the Great North Run for the 10th time.
Running next Sunday for Breast Cancer Care, with my best friend, Samantha, will hopefully allow me to say 'Thankyou' in some small way, and I would be extremely grateful to you if you could make a pledge of support for me.
