Story
Thanks to every-one who supported us - It makes a huge difference and keeps you going through those tougher miles
It was a fantastic weekend
I completed the course with friends Margot and Andy in 4 hours 40minutes and 40 seconds.
It reached 25c at times but the people of Edinburgh had their hose pipes and sprinklers on to keep us cool and distract us from our aches and pains. The atmosphere was brilliant and because the course looped back on itself we were able to support our fellow Macmillan and Southport Waterloo team mates running in the opposite direction
Ian and the hairy haggis relay team (Carole, Ian, Clive and Shelia) completed the marathon course in a fantastic time of 4hours and 1 minute (unofficial tbc). Rumour has it there was a quick detour to the pub before some some team members met up at the finish. Special thanks to Carole for organising the team.
The Macmillan supporters were amazing and constantly supported us on route and looked after us at the finish with a massage and a cup of tea
Thanks again to all, a very special and emotional day
I was the 58th lady in the Inter-counties Letty fell race and our Merseyside team was 13th overall. I completed the course in a time of 2hours 7 minutes (8 minutes faster than I had hoped)
RAISING MONEY FOR MACMILLAN - thanks for your support
Why do a marathon?
I'm not sure really, endless training, exhaustion, blisters?
This is a chance to run for something greater than just myself
To run with friends and support a fantastic charity that has made a huge difference to the lives of people I know
Running for friends past and present and to make sure the support is always there in the future
Please support Macmillan and the team members from Southport Waterloo AC
9 runners including my husband Ian and 3 others who are competing in the "Hairy Haggis Relay" (plus 2 supportive husbands)
The Hairy Haggis relay runs along side the marathon and the team of 4 will complete the marathon course between them
Things don't always go to plan!
This has turned out to be a weekend extravaganza
Starting in Wales on Saturday for the
Inter-counties Lletty Fell race where I shall be representing Merseyside
(9mile 2900ft of ascent including Moel Famau and Moel Arthur)
Then the long drive for Ian, chaperoning us from Wales to Scotland
Followed on Sunday by the grand finale marathon and hairy haggis!
