The Cure CJD campaign has been set up by a group of individuals, personally affected by the disease, to support the work of researchers & doctors at the MRC Prion Unit at UCL and NHS National Prion Clinic at UCLH. We are a fund within UCLH Charity.

Story

On 31st March 2023, Stephen Bernard Platt (Steve), our loving dad, husband, grandfather and brother, was devastatingly diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD).  After six heartbreaking weeks, he sadly passed away on 14th May 2023 with his family around him.

CJD is an extremely rare disease of which there is currently no cure for and there is no way to prevent or slow the disease down, but every day scientists and doctors are getting closer to finding a treatment. The Cure CJD campaign aims to raise funds to support the use of an antibody drug developed for the treatment of patients with CJD.

We hope you can help us raise funds and awareness of this cruel disease, in memory of Steve, to help prevent more families from suffering.
